Facebook announced plans this week to launch a marketplace for finding apps called the App Center. The App Center will become the new, central place to find great apps.
Facebook engineer Aaron Brady posted on Facebook’s Developer Blog that the App Center “gives developers an additional way to grow their apps and creates opportunities for more types of apps to be successful.”
The Center, which will open in the next few weeks, will rate the quality of apps, organizing them by user ratings and engagement. Well designed apps that people enjoy will be prominently displayed. App creators will receive insights and metrics to report how users are rating the app over time. Each app will have an app detail page, which will help people see what makes an app unique.
Until now, Facebook apps have been free with in-app purchases, but to support more types of apps, Facebook is allowing paid apps. To get your app listed in the App Center, developers should create an app detail page. This will become the new destination when non-users search the your app on Facebook.
