Just a few months after announcing plans to acquire Instagram (the acquisition deal hasn’t closed yet), Facebook released a mobile app that is almost identical to Instagram’s. With the help of Instagram, Facebook’s photos team designed Facebook Camera for quicker publishing than Facebook’s current primary mobile app.
Facebook Camera, which is available in the iTunes app store, allows users to easily share photos with Facebook friends. Facebook Camera gives users the following features:
- Post multiple photos from your camera roll at a time
- Crop and apply filters to give your photos a new look
- Scroll down a single feed of all your friends’ photos
- Tag your friends, add photo captions, and say where you are
- See photos from the different apps your friends use
According to TechCrunch, the app’s homescreen includes a camera button for shooting new photos and quick access to the last few images in your camera roll for instant uploading. By default you’ll see a feed of photos from your friends that’s like your current newsfeed, but only photo posts.
Currently the third Facebook app available to it’s users, Facebook Camera is just for iOS in English speaking countries right now but will roll out internationally over the next few weeks.
